Ceramic Tyrannosaurus, one of a set of such prehistoric-animal figures from Grand Junction, CO. This Tyrannosaurus model was molded from an earlier sculpture fashioned after a famous painting by artist Charles R. Knight. (CLICK HERE for another “clone” of the Knight-based sculpture).
The original painting, done by Knight in 1906 for the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY, has been reproduced many times — as (below) in the book Dinosaurs: An Illustrated History (Hammond Incorporated, 1983), written by paleontologist Edwin H. Colbert.
