Artist Charles R. Knight painted this Stegosaurus vs. Ceratosaurus scene for “Parade of Life Through the Ages,” an article he both wrote and illustrated for the February, 1942 issue of National Geographic Magazine.
Variations on Charles R. Knight’s Ceratosaurus life restoration have turned up numerous times since first appearing in National Geographic Magazine, mostly in comic books, and even in the so-called “tyrant dinosaur” costumes made by Ellis Burman for the 1948 movie Unknown Island (see poster and photos below).
