Pyro plastic model kits (early 1960s), the first commercially sold assembly kits depicting dinosaurs “in the flesh.” The kits were later reissued (see second box, below).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Tyrannosaurus may have been based upon this illustration (below) by Thomas W. Voter, which appeared in Roy Chapman Andrews very popular book All About Dinosaurs (1953).  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Corythosaurus model was based on this painting (below) by Czech artist Zdenek Burian, which appeared in the book Prehistoric Animals (1960) written by paleontologist Joseph Augusta.
