The “Gill Man” — an imaginary prehistoric monster part fish and part humanoid — starred in three motion pictures made during the 1950s by Universal-International — Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), Revenge of the Creature (1955) and The Creature Walks Among Us (1956). There have been many collectible items sold over the years pertaining to the “Creature,” among them this animated aquarium accessory (Pen Plax, 1970), plastic figure (Marx, 1963s) and bust bank (CE, 2012). Alas, I no longer have the Aurora model kit.
In 1982, Bob Burns asked me to write the script for his annual Halloween Show, that year’s theme being Creature from the Black Lagoon. A highlight of the event was the unexpected visit by actress Julie Adams, who starred in that film.
