Photograph of an original color mural painted in oils (see below) by artist Charles R. Knight depicting a Neanderthal family during the Ice Age. This reproduction was once part of an exhibit on early man at New York’s American Museum of Natural History.
The painting was reproduced in various books, including Dinosaurs, Mammoths and Cavemen: The Art of Charles R. Knight (1982). which I co-authored with Sylvia Massey Czerkas.
