The Cabazon Dinosaurs

During the 1970s and 1980s, sculptor Claude K. Bell created two larger-than-life dinosaur statues — first, a Brontosaurus, later a Tyrannosaurus, seen in the above souvenir postcards — to stand outside the “Wheel Inn Restaurant” truck stop, Dinosaur Gardens, at Cabazon, CA. The Brontosaurus is hollow, serving as a “museum” and gift shop. The roadside attraction, originally called Claude Bell’s Dinosaurs., has been renamed the Cabazon Dinosaurs.

Montages of some of the many postcards featuring Bell’s dinosaurs.
