My “Edwin H. Colbert Library”

Colbert

There is a real “Edwin H. Colbert Library” at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Colbert was a tremendous influence upon me, especially in my younger days, when most of the books I read about dinosaurs seem to have been written by him. As time passed I got to know and be friends with Ned. Somewhere along the line I decided to try and acquire every published book or article written by this famous paleontologist and have him sign each item. I think I have all (or at least most) of his books (including books to whic he contributed chapters, articles, forewords, etc.) and most of his technical papers — all of them signed by Ned. (Photo, above right, from the dust jacket of A Fossil Hunter’s Notebook.)
