Paintings by George Harold Messmore for Messmore & Damon’s attraction “The World a Million Years Ago.”
The paintings were based directly on the mechanical creatures that appeared in this popular exhibit, as seen in this photo from a company booklet (below) showing Messmore and partner Joseph A. Damon (with their first such prehistoric animal, their so-called “Amphibious Dinosaurus Brontosaurus”).
