Plaster Diplodocus model that was sold at the “Field House” museum in the small town of Vernal, Utah, during the 1980s.
This model was based upon one of the many full-size statues made by Elbert H. Porter and displayed in the “Dinosaur Gardens” in back of the museum (see post cards and other collectibles, below). Indeed, Vernal is a kind of “Western USA capitol” for dinosaurs, located near Dinosaur National Monument (Utah-Colorado). Both Vernal and Dinosaur National Monument have both long been sources of myriad dinosaur-related collectibles. (To see just a few of these items click on those links.)
